Recycling
Here are some commonly asked questions about our recycling program. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
What can I recycle?
- Cartons (empty & recap)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Metal cans and foil
- Paper and cardboard (PLEASE flatten boxes)
- Plastic containers (empty & recap)
What should keep out?
- DO NOT use plastic bags to put you recyclables. Use a cardboard box or reusable plastic bin!
- No plastic bags or wraps. Recycle them at Pete’s or your favorite grocery store!
- No food or liquor. Empty out containers first!
- No scrap metal
- No tangles such as hoses, chains or chords
What about hazardous materials?
- No rechargeable batteries. You can drop them off at Best Buy, Lowe’s and Staples
- No electronic waste such as computer or screens. You can drop them off at Best Buy or other electronic stores.
- No pharmaceuticals. Drop them off at the nearest Police Station (1412 S Blue Island Ave, Chicago, IL 60608)
- No household chemicals
- No metal tanks
- No oil based paint
- No fluorescent bulbs or tubes. You can drop them off at Home Depot or Lowe’s
- No motor oil
